The London Make-Up Academy run make-up artist courses to give their clients the best possible education by offering a holistic all-encompassing training course. Hair Stylist Academy And More

Although the main focus of the academy is to teach professional make up application we are interested in the fashion industry as a whole because we want to give our students a wide range of skills that will empower their career and provide them with as many options for employment as possible. As such we are not only a make up artist school, but also a hair stylist academy.

As a hair stylist academy we provide seminars on bridal make up and hair styling as well as private make up lessons. We also teach students on how to produce great makeup effects for birthday parties ranging from children's parties to adult events. Styling advice also comes in the form of recommendations made by celebrity and fashion stylists, so that our students know they are getting the most up to date and relevant instruction.

Whilst being a hair stylist academy and professional make up artist school the London Make-up Academy also offer seminars on hen night make up which incorporate professional massage therapy too. One of the most important tasks, and one which creates a vast amount of work for a professional make up artist, is photographic make up. To those without experience it might seem strange, or you may not have considered the idea that makeup for a photo shoot needs to be approached differently to everyday application. As with any artistic endeavour there are themes, objectives and aesthetic qualities which the photographer wishes to achieve and a large contributor to the success of the finished images is the make up.

Photographic make up isn't necessarily about making someone look natural, it could be part of your remit, but it's not the most exciting aspect of being a make up artist. There is undoubtedly a great skill involved in painting someone up to look as though they are actually naked of product, and this is something included in the syllabus, but as artists we get our kicks from creating something new and exciting. At the LMA we encourage the creative beast within our students, enabling them to develop their skills and define their own sense of direction and style.

Putting a course together in an area like photographic make up requires that all our staff are professionals themselves with the experience and vision to direct students down the best path, providing them with the potential for a long and successful career in an ever-evolving industry. Welcome to the blog pages of the London Make-Up Academy. Throughout the course of the next few weeks and months we will be updating these pages with articles and news related to the work and the teaching which goes on within the school. We have set up a "Frequently Asked Questions" page which may save you the cost of calling, and there are more details about the courses delivered at this make-up artist school but failing that, we are always happy to speak to you should you need further assistance.

So this being the first article it seemed like a good idea to look at the kinds of things we teach at a make-up artist school. Don't get me wrong, the title is fairly descriptive and self explanatory, but for the sake of thoroughness, and to make sure our readers don't have any misconceptions about exactly what we do here at The London Make-Up Academy, I decided it was still a worthwhile starting point for these pages.

The first thing to say is that as a make-up artist school we are interested in our students being at the frontline of the fashion industry. In our eyes the most important word in that description is "artist". Working in the music, film and photo-shoot industries as a make-up professional requires not only the skills but the creative flair to be innovative and ambitious. So whilst we teach the science behind professional make-up artistry we also encourage and nurture our students to help them carve their own niche in what is a highly competitive area of work.
